About
Lionheart Dental was born from both professional experience and personal purpose.
As a hospital-trained dentist, Dr. Shannon Weir built her career caring for medically complex patients, adults with disabilities, and individuals who need access to sedation or hospital-based dentistry. But the deeper mission behind Lionheart comes from her son, Loyal.
Loyal lives with a rare KCNT1-related epileptic encephalopathy, a severe degenerative seizure disorder that affects every aspect of daily life. Though he faces profound physical limitations and endures countless seizures, he continues to meet each day with a sweetness and joy that has forever shaped the heart of this practice.
Through Loyal, Dr. Weir has experienced firsthand the challenges families face when trying to access safe, compassionate healthcare for people with disabilities. He is the inspiration behind Lionheart’s commitment to building a dental home where medically complex and special needs patients are not treated as exceptions, but as the reason the practice exists.
The name Lionheart reflects the courage, resilience, and quiet strength that Loyal embodies every day. His spirit is the foundation of our mission: to remove barriers, expand access, and provide exceptional dental care for patients who deserve to be seen, supported, and safely treated in the setting that best meets their needs.
Lionheart Dental exists because every patient deserves brave, compassionate care.
